Raising Concerns

Working together for your children

Goollelal Primary School has a strong family focus and we welcome not only your child, but you, to our community.  It is important to us that parents feel comfortable communicating with teachers and staff at the school.  By working together, we can provide an enhanced social and educational environment to foster your child’s growth.

Regular interaction will also make it easier for you to feel confident about the teaching and learning taking place in the classroom and to discuss problems as they arise.

How can we help?

Communication is a critical factor in the partnership between parents and the school.  We communicate with each other in a respectful, fair, honest and open manner.

As your child progresses through school, you may have concerns about his/her progress both academically and socially.  It makes sense, if time and effort is to be invested in raising a concern, that we follow a productive procedure to achieve a positive result, one which:

  • doesn’t punish the child by creating anxiety
  • ends with good relationships between parents, the student and the school staff, and
  • allows the child to see how to deal with a problem constructively.
Contacting the right person, at the right time

Your first point of contact should always be your child’s class teacher.  Talk to the teacher and make an appointment to meet with him/her so that you can discuss the problem away from the classroom. Remember that you are meeting with the teacher to gain their support in solving a problem.

Be patient.  It may not happen overnight.  Maintain your link with the teacher and keep communicating.  Share information so that you can work as a team.

Most concerns are resolved at a classroom level however, please contact Administration team if you would like to discuss the matter further.
