Australian Curriculum

The Australian Curriculum sets consistent national standards to improve learning outcomes for all round Australians.  It sets out, through content descriptions and achievement standards, what students should be taught and achieve, as they progress through school.

In Western Australia, the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA) governs the implementation of the Australian Curriculum.  Teachers have the flexibility to cater for the diverse learning needs of each of their students, and to meet the context of students at Goollelal Primary School, but the aim is to prepare all children nationally with the skills they need to become resilient, well-rounded high achievers.

Teachers at Goollelal Primary have implemented all of the Phase 1 Australian Curriculum learning areas (English, Mathematics, Science and History), and Geography from Phase 2 into their teaching, learning and reporting schedules, with professional learning targeting remaining Phase 2 and Phase 3 learning areas.  Participants from Goollelal Primary are also involved in SCSA working groups to help develop assessment guidelines in a Western Australian context.
