Deputy’s Desk | Easter Hen, Easter Raffle, Waste Wise & ANZAC Day
The Easter Hen:
Yesterday there was much excitement at the school as the Easter Hen made an appearance in the early years playground at lunch time. Rosie felt at home as she pecked around the children and ate our precious grass! The Kindy/Pre-Primary class have planted wheat behind the cubby and were keeping Rosie well clear. Mr Rintoul wears many hats at the school but I believe that he has earned the new title of the ‘Chook whisperer’. Rosie seemed to follow his commands with great respect! Thank you to the early year’s staff for organising all the fun.
Yesterday we also drew the Easter Raffle. There were more than 40 prizes very kindly donated by our wonderful parents. Congratulations to Kellie Gabrielle who won the main prize in the raffle followed by Tyler K and Nicholas R. There will be a serious chocolate overload in their homes! Thank you to all who donated eggs and toys and also those who bought tickets. Grateful thanks to the P&C members who organised the raffle and those who came to make up the baskets. It was a wonderful show of teamwork.
Yesterday, we had Peg from the City of Joondalup for a free incursion. It really was such an eye opener, seeing how much waste goes to landfill and how much (most of it) could have been re-cycled. It was also alarming to see un-touched lunches from home, un-opened canteen food and untouched whole pieces of fruit. Thanks to Geoff again for organising the incursion.
On Friday 13 April, we will hold our annual ANZAC service in the under covered area. Any children who are affiliated with any of the service organisations like Scouts are welcome to wear their uniforms. Also I would be very grateful for any roses, to make the wreath. I am making it on Thursday 12 April so if you can spare any at all could you please bring them to the office on that day.
I would like to wish all our families a safe and happy Easter.
