Principal’s Pen | Science, Robotics, Radio, Enrolments, Playgroup & P&C
Dear Parents and Families,
Well done to Mr Rintoul and his Science Presenters for an exciting assembly today. Mr Rintoul has been organising a number of opportunities for our students with an interest in all things Science. This includes taking a team to compete in the North Metropolitan Robotics Challenge on Wednesday, 16th August. Good luck to Tobias, Emily, Zak and Katie as you compete against 8 other schools in the 6 events planned.
With Book Week fast approaching, everyone in the school has been busy preparing for our Book Assembly on Friday, the 25th of August. For more information about Book Week events, please go to our latest Deputy’s Desk.
Last week our Year 5 students from TA11 visited local radio station 89.7 FM. Our students and accompanying teachers, Miss Pallett, Mrs Hartmann and Miss Twomey, were amazing. The huge amount of work that went into the planning for the show was all worthwhile as they put on a fantastic performance. To hear a podcast of the show, you can visit Councillor John Logan’s website at:
Our Year 5’s in TA13 will be also be visiting 89.7FM on Wednesday, 23rd of August.
Next semester we are anticipating making a change to the way your child’s school reports are delivered. As you may or may not know, the Department of Education has been encouraging schools to use a facility for sending reports to parents using the e-mail system. This means that no matter where you are you will receive your child’s report and can print it immediately. It also allows both parents to receive the report promptly by e-mail.
As we prepare to make the change to emailing reports next semester we would like to ensure that both parents e-mails are registered on our system. With this in mind, please contact our school office if you need to update your email contact details.
We still have spaces available for Kindy 2018. If you have a child who was born between the 1st of July 2013 and the 30th of June 2014 please come to the office to complete an enrolment form.
Maria Heenan from the Enhanced Transitions to Schools Project has been running a playgroup trial in our Kindy room over the last three weeks. As you can see from our recent photos, there were lots of fun activities and people to meet! Although yesterday was the last day of our three week trial, we have had such a wonderful response, our playgroup will be continuing. If you would like to join in the fun, please come along next Thursday from 9.00am to 11.00am. See the attached flier for more details.
At our latest P&C Meeting on Tuesday night, we discussed a number of upcoming events. This includes an opportunity for one parent representative to attend the annual WACCSO Conference on Saturday 20th August. Please see your classroom P&C Representative if you would like to attend. Our Fundraising Committee will also be having a fundraising brainstorming session at the Kingsley Tavern on Wednesday, 16th August, at 6.30pm for anyone who would like to attend.
