P&C Movie Night

Thank you to all the families who came along to the P&C Movie Night last Friday. What a terrific night it was! I would also like to give a huge thank you to the members of the Goollelal P&C Fundraising Committee, headed by Leigh Burns, for all their hard work in the lead up to the event and throughout the night. The P&C planned the Movie Night as a welcome to all the new families starting at Goollelal this year. It is a lovely way to start out the year and to become a part of the Goollelal community. Thank you again to all the parents and relatives who volunteered their time and energy. Our Community Student Leaders also did a terrific job, selling raffle tickets and helping out on the night. Well done to everyone involved.

Election Day Sausage Sizzle

Once again, our P&C organised the Election Day Sausage Sizzle. Thank you to Ben Laforest, Dave Jenkins, Leigh and Jeremy Burns, Jeremy Smith, Stefanie Voigt, Katie May, Jane and Steve Maguire, Roxana Edery, Pia Bonifant, Nora Ayrton and Louise Voss for manning the booth on the day. I hope I haven’t left anyone out, if so, thank you! And the verdict from a reliable source (my son), “best sausage sizzle ever!”

TA7 Assembly

Well done Sandy MacDougall and all the children in TA7 for another great, “Rockin Robin,” assembly.

Welcome to our new Moolanda Boulevard Traffic Warden

This week I had the pleasure of meeting our new Moolanda Boulevard traffic warden, Mrs Bets Penney. I’d like to extend a warm welcome to Mrs Penney. During her visit, Mrs Penney commented on how friendly and welcoming our Goollelal students have been.

Photo Day

Our school photo day is scheduled for Wednesday 22nd March. Every student should have received a Kapture Photography envelope. The recommended method of ordering is online. If you do order online please make sure you send the envelope to school on the day.  Alternatively, you can pay by cash and return the provided envelope to school on the photograph day. For more detail, please see the notice on the school app and on the school website.

Student Update Forms

Student update forms will be sent home this week. Please complete and return by Friday the 24th of March.

Staff Leave

Over the past three years, the Department of Education have been taking steps to reduce the leave liability of their staff in accordance with a directive from the State Government.  If staff members have accrued more than 20 days Long Service Leave they must use their long service leave within two years of its accrual. At Goollelal Primary several staff will be required to take their Long service Leave. This term Annette Ivey and myself have been directed to use our leave. As with any leave, the school administration arranges available relief staff in a manner that is best suited to the needs of the school and the particular class. Mrs Ivey and I have leave until the end of this term. In my absence, Kerry Hartmann will take on the role of Acting Principal.

CONNECT

We are trying to streamline our ways of communicating important information to parents. Most families are now signed up to CONNECT which is a Department of Education online tool for students and parents to access teacher messages, emails and school news. If you haven’t already signed up for Connect access, please complete the online form located on the quick links window on the school website.
